The DISC Initiatives was a renaissance of the Donyo youths in Collaboration with Charles Ochieng founded in the year 2008. Its Establishment if founded on the basis of responding to the youths un-employment culture. It has slowly evolved and scaled in search of community empowerment and transformation through enabling and promoting communities for Change in Kenya.

Charles Ochieng

Founder, DISC Initiatives

Charles Ochieng is a self-motivated person with the desire to work in a multicultural environment that promotes the well-being of human race and community development. His desire was informed after being raised in the second biggest slums of Kenya called Korogocho, coming face to face with extreme poverty condition and him being a beneficiary of humanitarian efforts to get quality education. He brings the following attributes and skills to the day to day running of the organization.

Charles follows his schedule of work closely and executes his plan of action to needs that have arisen promptly. He is experienced in Psycho– social support for the orphans and vulnerable children in the program and persons living with HIV/AIDS, Data collection and preparing de-briefing notes to the research associate, Coordination, Community Development, Fundraising, Outreach, Public Speaking, Program development, Mentoring, Computer Proficiency, Nonprofits, Psychotherapy, NGOs Policy Analysis, Proposal Writing, Qualitative Research.

He holds a Certificate in counseling psychology from Amani Counseling Center and Diploma in Project Planning and management. He has previously worked with World Vision –Kenya in Sponsorship program and Heath care program being in charge of organizing actions that address youths and adolescent reproductive health, Children of strength International orphan care being responsible for Psycho –social support for orphans and vulnerable children and community training.

Charles  has consulted and done many trainings to youths and community groups before together with three youths they co-founded The DISC Initiatives. He is married to one wife and they are blessed with 2 beautiful daughters.

Gustav Mayoya

Board Member - DISC Initiatives

Gustav sits in the board of the organization. He was very pivotal and played a big part in to the founding of the organization. He single handedly did all the paper works that makes our organization conforms to legal instruments. He has brought in a lot of vast experience being an expert in GIS and spatial planning. He currently works with SMEC International PTY Limited as a GIS technician.

He has a BA in Geography (GIS) from Moi University Eldoret. He has held many consulting position with Government and international private firms. He is marry and he is blessed with to bouncing children. He brings on board confidence and expertise. Having worked and consulted in the following firms: GIS Technician in SMEC international- Mapping roads inventory and condition survey for Western –Kenya zone crossing around 22 counties, GIS Analyst and head of Field operation: Geogold Africa consultants, Safety Liaison officer in VIL LIMITED, Lands/ Community Liaison officer at AFRICAN BARRICK GOLD EXPLORATION KENYA among many other private limited company management and looking forward to gain from his valuable experience as we move forward to FOR IMPACT MODEL.

Liz Mueke

Board Member

Elizabeth Mueke was born in Oldonyo Sabuk,Machakos county. She is a graduate from Kisii University with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce(Management Science major)and currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Administration at Kenya School of Revenue Administration.

Elizabeth Mueke is a contractual employee at Kenya National Bereau of Statistics.In KNBS  she has worked as a supervisor of data entry for National Labour Enumeration which gives the rate of enumeration among the Kenyan youths.She has also worked as a content supervisor for digital pilot census that occurred in August 2018 which was a success.

Before joining Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, she worked as a Program Assistant with Hope Worldwide Kenya which is a non governmental organization based in Nairobi slums (Mukuru Reuben,Viwandani,Kiambiu,Landmawe and Mathare slums).The organization ran a program called DREAMS which its mission was to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDs among the adolescent girls and young women.This was done so by empowering them through school sponsorships, vocational trainings,cash transfers,health education and offering counselling and medication to the already infected. As a program assistant she coordinated the enumeration of the girls and young women in to the program,their training and mentorship programs.She also prepared the program’s budget, implemented the program activities and prepared weekly and monthly reports.

Beside starting her own consultancy firm in Tax Administration in future, Elizabeth Mueke would like to start an initiative to help the needy and orphans since she has grown up being a total orphan and understands well the challenges faced by the needy and orphans..God willingly, she would also want to give motivational speeches and offer job opportunities to the youth through her consultancy firm as a way of giving back to the community.

Simon Wachieni

Mentorship Resident Consultant

Working on transforming the rain-fed farming practice in Africa to irrigation, through provision of water harvesting, irrigation and agronomic solutions. Keen on ensuring that smallholder farming becomes a source of reliable and adequate food to communities while also serving as job creation and economic pillar. Have over 15 years’ professional experience in social development (within public, NGO and Social Enterprise sectors in Kenya). Specialized in Finance, Operations, Agribusiness and Program/ Project Management. Additional roles played over this time include Social Work and Community Development, M&E, Social & Market Research and Climate Smart Agriculture Training.

Victor Muindi

Finance Director

Victor is a product of the DISC Initiatives education program and currently he manages the finances of the organization and all the related accounting stuffs. He is a very charming little guy with a lot of potential to make a big impact in his life and the community by extension. He has a Diploma in Banking and finance from Mount Kenya University. He is currently busy establishing a community health insurance program for the under-privileged community in Donyo Sabuk area.
